It was a good year for defense on area volleyball courts. Three Class 1A players from the KCII listening area finished inside the top 30 in the state in digs this season. Winfield-Mount Union Wolves senior libero Keetyn Townsley is 19th in 1A with 398 digs. Townsley also contributed on offense for WMU with 74 aces and was so impressive on the back row that coaches voted her the South East Iowa Super Conference North Co-Player of the Year alongside WACO Warriors senior Grace Coble.

The Sigourney Savages have a pair of players who covered every inch of the court on defense. Senior libero Reagan Power is 21st in 1A with 380 digs, while junior hitter Josephine Moore was eight digs and four spots behind. WACO senior libero Jocelyn Fulton finished just one spot outside the top 25 with 365 digs.
