Sigourney community schools are celebrating Veterans with a Salute to Veterans Day assembly.

The assembly will be held at the Sigourney Jr/Sr gymnasium  Friday, November 11th at 10:00 a.m. The time is to honor veterans and other members of the community who have served our country.

There will be a variety of activities to watch at the assembly to pay homage to the veterans. A patriotic trilogy will be performed by the high school band. The color guard will also perform. A group of community women who make valor quilts will display them and present five quilts to local veterans. A sergeant from the Iowa National Guard will speak as a guest. The assembly will conclude with a video made by one of Sigourney’s own history classes.

The assembly is open to the public, and Sigourney schools encourage anyone to come. The assembly will also be streamed live on their school website.

More information about the assembly, as well as other Sigourney school news and events, can be found at www.sigourneyschools.com or on their Facebook page, Sigourney Community School District.
