Several area schools have scheduled assemblies this week to recognize and honor our veterans.
Washington Middle School will hold their assembly on Wednesday, November 9 at 2:15 p.m. in the gymnasium. The choir will be performing, among other tributes. Veterans from all branches of the military are invited to attend.
Mid-Prairie High School invites area veterans to attend their assembly and luncheon on Thursday, November 10 at 10:15 a.m. The luncheon will directly follow the assembly. Contact Karmen Cady at 319-646-6091 to RSVP.
Winfield-Mount Union’s Veterans Day Assembly will take place Friday, November 11 at 9:30 a.m. in the big gym. W-MU encourages veterans and their families, along with community members to attend. Light refreshments will be served following the assembly.
In Columbus Junction, Roundy Elementary School’s assembly is scheduled for Friday, November 11 at 10 a.m. Student skits will be performed, there will be a flag folding ceremony, and a presentation of the colors by local veterans. Any area veterans are encouraged to attend.
Sigourney will hold their Salute to Veterans Day Assembly on Friday, November 11 at 10 a.m. in the Jr/Sr gymnasium. The band and color guard are scheduled to perform, valor quilts will be presented to local veterans, and a sergeant from the Iowa National Guard will speak. The assembly is open to the public.
