The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) announced awards totaling approximately $934,000 in Main Street Iowa Challenge Grants to ten communities in Iowa. Main Street Washington was selected as one of the programs and received a $100,000 Challenge Grant for the Koller + Plus, LLC Professional Project. The project at 206 S. Iowa includes the historic preservation of the front & rear façade and the total rehabilitation of a vacant and gutted living space on the 2nd floor.
The grants are administered through IEDA’s Iowa Downtown Resource Center and the Main Street Iowa programs, with funding being distributed in the form of matching grants. Main Street Washington was founded in 2008 and has collected over $15 million for the development, restoration, and rehabilitation of downtown buildings in Washington.
