Washington Demons cross country had a season to remember this year, and head coach Stefanie Haworth is being recognized for leading the way. Haworth has been named one of the five At-Large Coaches of the Year for Class 3A girls’ cross country by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. Haworth oversaw a Demon girls’ team that qualified for state after finishing runner-up in their district and finished sixth at the 3A championships. Washington also won the Southeast Conference team title and, during different meets this year, finished with their lowest point totals and widest margin of victory in the team standings in school history. One Demon girls’ runner, freshman Iris Dahl, finished second in the SEC and seventh in 3A by running some of the fastest times in school history.
