On November 10, 40-year-old Lucas Anthony McCoy pled guilty to witness tampering, an aggravated misdemeanor, prior to his trial two weeks ago. On October 25, McCoy was found not guilty of second degree arson and insurance fraud following a fire at his Libertyville residence in October of 2020.

McCoy admitted to making contact with a State’s witness between February 6 and April 12 of this year, with the intent to harass and intimidate. This contact included trespassing at the victim’s residence in early hours and blocking vehicles in the driveway, trespassing at the victim’s place of work, following the victim’s child home from school, following the victim in a vehicle, damaging property at the victim’s home, and making false reports relating to the victim.

McCoy was sentenced to 180 days of incarceration with probation, and issued a no-contact order with the victim, along with fines and court costs. He was facing up to a 15-year sentence for the charges he was acquitted of.
