There wasn’t much on the volleyball court in 2022 that Mid-Prairie freshman phenom Jovi Evans couldn’t do. Listed as an outside hitter and setter on the roster, the first year Golden Hawk star stuffed the stat sheet on all sides of the ball. Evans compiled a combined total of 961 assists, kills, digs and aces this season, most by any 3A freshman, topping Tipton’s Paycee Sorgenfrey, who finished in second with 791 between the four categories.

Evans was electric this season for the Hawks, piling up 346 digs, most by any freshman in Class 3A and 19th for all players, 370 assists, best for the Hawks, third among 3A freshman and 46th in the state, 202 kills, second most of 3A freshman and 55th in the state to go with 43 aces, the fourth highest freshman total in 3A and 33rd overall.

For her efforts, Evans was named first team All-River Valley Conference this season and was part of a Mid-Prairie team that collected 27 wins and advanced to the Class 3A regional finals for the first time since 2004.
