On Thursday, November 10, the Keota School Board met in regular session. The meeting was held in the Keota Elementary School Media Center.
The meeting began with a visit from Grundmeyer Leader Services to discuss the search for a superintendent and high school principal. With current Superintendent Jim Henrich scheduled to retire at the conclusion of this school year, the firm and board were able to establish a timeline for the search. “Information will be starting to come out next week about surveys and other things to get everything rolling” said Henrich.
Open enrollment requests, the resignation of K-12 art teacher, Mary Miller, the hiring of elementary associate, Candy Greiner, and fundraisers for the basketball teams and cheerleading squad were all approved.
Several action items were approved, highlighted by two SBRC applications for increased enrollment and open enrollment out. The spending authority for these will be increased in the amount of $74,582 and $164,923 respectively.
The meeting concluded with administrative reports. Elementary School Principal Milledge has developed a BRAG trip to reward fifth and sixth grade students with exceptional behavior, responsibility, attendance, and grades. A trial run will be this month with a trip to the State Theater in Washington.
The Keota School Board will hold their next meeting on Thursday, December 8 at 6 p.m. in the Elementary Media Center.
