In their first official Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union sanctioned event, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls wrestling team made it a big night, taking second place of 12 teams at the North Scott Tournament in Eldridge Tuesday. Mid-Prairie piled up 147 points with 10 athletes. Bettendorf won the team title with 198.5 points but had 22 wrestlers make up their scoring. The Hawks had four champions on the night including Ashlee Farrier at 130lbs who went 2-0 on the night including scoring a fall in the title bout over Erin Hill of Bettendorf. Ellie Brenneman was a champion at 135lbs with a 2-0 evening including a fall over Kiley Langley of Wilton for the championship. Marissa Cline was undefeated atop the podium at 145lbs beating Kayleigh Jurczyk of Bettendorf by fall in the title match in under 30 seconds. Sam Stacey also capped a perfect night with gold for Mid-Prairie beating Macey Johnson of Notre Dame in the finals by fall in one minute.
The Golden Hawks had three runners-up with Gabi Robertson at 105lbs, Mardie Berry at 145lbs and Mia Garvey at 170lbs all finishing second. The Mid-Prairie girls will next be in action Saturday in a tournament at BGM.
