The Mid-Prairie School Board met in regular session on Monday, November 14.

The meeting commenced with the selection of officers. Jeremy Pickard was elected as President, with Gabrielle Frederick chosen as Vice President.

This week’s Hawk Highlight centered around behavior interventionists, Beth Dehogues and Mackenzie Kos. They presented their changes to the Minor and Major Behavior Matrix, which is used to promote positive behaviors throughout the school. The program was affirmed by the board.

In the work session, discussions continued for the Long-term Facilities Plan. Projects are still being prioritized. The board reviewed two initial scenarios presented by Superintendent Brian Stone, and discussed the approach to referendum questions for an increase of the bond levy rate and for general obligation bonds for the projects. The approach taken will be discussed further at the next meeting.

Consent items were approved unanimously, including open enrollment requests, staff contracts, and volunteer winter coaches.

In the finance portion of the meeting, a utility easement for Interstate Power and Light Company was approved, allowing them to cross the north border of the soccer field complex. A growth resolution was also passed that will request spending authority of $64,043 for open enrollment out, and $6,226.92 for ELL beyond 5 years.

The Mid-Prairie Board of Education’s next meeting will be Monday, November 28 at 6:15 p.m. in the Central Office Community Room.
