At the National FFA Convention last month, Mid-Prairie alum and FFA member, David Murray, received the American FFA Degree.

Following the convention, Mid-Prairie FFA Director Elsa Schmidt stressed the rarity of this achievement. “Less than 1 percent of the FFA members across the nation receive that degree, so it is quite a great honor,” Schmidt pointed out.

Several requirements must be met to earn the American FFA Degree. This includes receiving a State FFA Degree, earning $10,000 and productively investing $7,500 after entering agricultural education, and recording 50 hours or more of community service within at least 3 community service activities.

“It definitely showed me that all the time and effort put into FFA was worth it,” said Murray. “Working hard paid off in the end.” Murray is the 27th member in the history of the Mid-Prairie chapter to receive the American FFA Degree.
