The holiday spirit will be palpable on Saturday, December 3 when Christmas in Kalona returns. The event is free to the public and includes a variety of activities and attractions for all ages.
Kicking off downtown, kids have the chance to take pictures with live reindeer at the Kalona Public Library from 9:30-11:30 a.m. A Christmas movie will play at the library at 1 p.m. and the newly added poured painting class is scheduled from 3-5 at Kalona Brewing Company.
At the Kalona YMCA, the Christmas Market runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Kids activities will be available during this time, including face painting, photos with Santa at 10 a.m., and the Cookie Walk directly following at 1 p.m.
Festivities wrap up at the Kalona Historical Village with the Christmas Tree Walk, caroling, carriage rides, and other holiday treats. The Lighted Golf Cart Parade begins at 5 p.m.
Director of the Kalona Area Chamber of Commerce, Tonia Poole, encourages all to attend, adding “Some other things that people really enjoy about Christmas in Kalona is that nostalgic feeling. We’ve got the campfires going, s’mores, free cider, free hot cocoa. You can wander around downtown and you can’t help but get in on the goodness.”
