Brooklyn will host its second girls wrestling tournament of the year Friday when they welcome area athletes to compete at a round robin. The Mid-Prairie girls will be back on the mat tonight, fresh off a quad sweep of the program’s first ever dual meet hosted at Tim Grady Gymnasium Tuesday where the Hawks posted wins over West Liberty, Iowa City Liberty and Iowa City West. Four Golden Hawks went a perfect 3-0 in the quad including Gabi Robertson at 105 with two wins and a forfeit, Ashlee Farrier at 130lbs with two wins and a forfeit. Ellie Callahan with three forfeits at 190 and Sam Stacey with two wins and a forfeit at 235. November 19th at BGM, the Golden Hawks won the program’s first ever team tournament championship.
Joining the Hawks today at BGM are Albia, Baxter, Belle Plaine, Boone, Cardinal, Centerville, Chariton, Colfax-Mingo, English Valleys, Grinnell, Iowa Valley, North Mahaska, North Tama, Pleasantville, South Tama, West Branch and the home Bears. Action starts at 5p.m. And continues into the evening at BGM High School.
