The long-awaited Christmas in Kalona holiday celebration returns today, with activities and events running throughout the day.
Saturday morning’s slate includes pictures with live reindeer at the Kalona Public Library. The Christmas Market opens at 9 a.m. in the YMCA, with face-painting and pictures with Santa available for children.
As the afternoon arrives, there will be a Christmas movie showing in the library at 1. The YMCA’s Cookie Walk begins at the same time. At the conclusion of the Christmas Market at 3, a poured painting class is offered for all ages at Kalona Brewing Company.
Guests are invited to make their way to the Kalona Historical Village as the sun goes down for caroling, carriage rides, and the Christmas Tree Walk. The Lighted Golf Cart Parade begins at 5 p.m. led by the Kalona Fire Department. Running from KCTC to the Historical Village, the parade is said to include a special guest with a big red coat.
