The Hillcrest Academy boys and girls basketball teams have a trek Saturday for a non-conference doubleheader at Bellevue Marquette Catholic. The Raven girls are in search of their first win on the year, falling to 0-3 after a 51-24 loss at Highland Tuesday where Claire Withrow led the way with nine points. On the season, the Ravens score 28 points per game and give up 50, shooting 29% from the floor, 25% from long range and 69% at the line with 28 rebounds, three assists, seven steals and 27 turnovers per night. Individual leaders include Withrow at 11 points per game. Delaney Shaw is averaging nine boards, an assist and two steals.

Bellevue Marquette is 2-0 on the young year with wins over Starmont and Easton Valley. They are averaging 56 points per game and giving up 31, shooting 33% from the floor, 21% from three point range and 45% at the line with 42 rebounds, 10 assists, 17 steals and 12 turnovers per game. Elise Kilburg is best on the team with 16 points per night and three assists, Megan Kremer is averaging 16 rebounds, five steals and two blocks.

The Hillcrest boys are 1-0 after a successful opening night at Highland Tuesday where they rolled the Huskies 71-13. All 10 Ravens played and scored in the game and the Raven defense pitched a shut out in the fourth quarter. Individual leaders included Grant Bender with 15 points, Seth Ours 12 and Josiah Beachy 10. Mason and Grant Bender and Jace Rempel each had five boards, Luke Schrock had six assists. Hillcrest shot 49% overall, 33% from deep, won the glass by 17, dished out 21 assists, had 17 steals and forced 32 Highland turnovers.

Bellevue Marquette is also 1-0 after an 83-14 win over Starmont that featured a 34-0 second quarter. Eleven total players scored with four reaching double figures led by 13 from Trevor Klein. They shot 49% overall with 41 boards, 20 assists, and 29 steals. The Ravens met Bellevue Marquette in Kalona last year for an overtime classic that Hillcrest won 53-50.
