It was a tough day Saturday for the Hillcrest Academy Raven basketball teams at Bellevue Marquette. Hillcrest fell in both ends of a non-conference doubleheader. The Raven girls were beaten 66-10. Marquette was on top 21-3 at the end of the first quarter and 35-6 at the break. The second half saw more of the same with the Ravens on the wrong end of a 22-2 run in the third quarter and outscored 31-4 in total after half. The loss drops Hillcrest to 0-4 on the year and Bellevue Marquette stays unbeaten at 3-0.

The Raven boys were beaten 63-36. They couldn’t contend with a hot start from Bellevue Marquette who sprinted to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter and were on top 39-21 at the break. They put the game on ice with a 17-7 run that lasted the entire fourth quarter. Hillcrest was held to just 34% shooting while Bellevue Marquette went 50% from the field and hit seven threes while outrebounding the Ravens by 15. Grant Bender led the Raven attack with 11 points. Josiah Beachy added eight. Hillcrest is now 1-1 on the year. The Raven boys and girls host rival Lone Tree Tuesday night in Kalona.
