toy-drive

In a joint effort with Columbus Junction Police, the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office is putting on their annual toy drive to benefit children in the community.

Individuals wishing to donate toys can do so at the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office by Friday, December 16. Additional donation boxes have been set up at The Kerr Spot in Morning Sun, as well as 92 Roadhouse in Columbus Junction.

On Thursday, December 15 squad cars will be set up at three different locations to receive toys and monetary donations. From 4-7 p.m. officers will be at Casey’s Store in Wapello, the Morning Sun Community Center, and Columbus Junction City Hall. Checks written for monetary donations can be made out to the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Deputy Brandon Marquardt praised the community’s generosity so far, and looks forward to another successful drive. “Last year we probably doubled. This year, I think we are pretty close to $4,000 of donations, and toys are piling in here left and right. The support’s overwhelming.”

The 2022 Toy Drive concludes on Sunday, December 18 at the Briggs Center in Wapello. Families receiving gifts must be residents of Louisa County and can pick up items from 4-8 p.m.
