4-h

The end-of-year 4-H Awards ceremony is a way for the program to finish off a year and kick off a new season of opportunities for the kids and volunteers that participate. KCII spoke with Amy Green, 4-H and Youth Coordinator for the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach about the different awards that were given, “This year we recognized several different groups. Our Partner in 4-H Award went to Greiner Crop Services. We gave a 4-H Volunteer of the Year Award to a long time volunteer, Don Pfeiffer. We gave a 4-H Alumni Award to Keith Murphy, who has been a volunteer; I think it’s been sixty some years in our livestock area, and auction area. We gave a Friend of 4-H Award to long time leader and also Fair Board Member, John Wagner. And then we also recognized 4-H Family of the Year to Steve and Pam Davis.”  Other awards of note are the Outstanding Record Book award, the Participation Award, for going above and beyond in the program, as well as more senior awards which involve an application and an interview process. It was a very successful night with over two hundred awards presented.
