The Mid-Prairie boys and girls wrestling teams are on the mat for a pair of tournaments today. The Golden Hawk boys are at Tim Grady Gymnasium, hosting their annual Colton Allen Memorial Invitational. Mid-Prairie finished as team runners-up at a tournament in New London last weekend, led by individual champions Mose Yoder at 120lbs and Landry Gingerich at 145. The Hawks had seven runners-up including Jesse Stultz at 106, Dalton Miller at 120, Tucker Miller at 132, Noah Freeman at 145, Evan Phillips at 152, Owen Trimpe at 170, Kaden Meader at 182 and Terry Bordenave at 220.  Mid-Prairie also competed Thursday at Iowa City Regina where they fell in an RVC dual to Monticello, but spoiled the Regal’s senior night with a 51-30 win in the nightcap. Mid-Prairie was fifth at their home tournament last year. The Colton Allen Memorial Tournament is named for Mid-Prairie student Colton Allen who passed away in 2019. Joining Mid-Prairie today are Benton, Clear Creek-Amana, Iowa Valley and Mediapolis. Action continues all day Saturday in Wellman.

The Golden Hawk girls are at Vinton-Shellsburg today. Mid-Prairie was last on the mat Monday, in a tournament at Williamsburg, where Marissa Cline was the winner in the 140C bracket and Ashlee Farrier and Grace Conway were runners-up. Joining Mid-Prairie today are Bellevue, Cedar Rapids Washington, Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union, Davenport, East Buchanan, Fort Madison, Iowa Valley, North Tama, Burlington Notre Dame, South Tama, Union, WACO, Washington, Waterloo East, Waterloo West and the home Vikettes. Action continues all day Saturday at Vinton-Shellsburg High School.
