The Highland Huskies had a couple of strong individual wrestling performances over the weekend. Highland had two individual boys’ champions at the North Cedar Invitational Saturday. Senior Carlos Valenzuela won the title at 138 pounds after picking up a pair of pins and winning a 6-0 decision. Husky junior Luke Guseman also won a title at 120 lbs with two pins and an 18-1 technical fall. Freshman Brock Thomann was second at 126 after winning three out of four bouts.

The Highland girls had four wrestlers finish third place or better in their bracket at Marion on Saturday. Senior Mackenzie McFarland was second with pins sandwiched in between getting pinned at 115 lbs. Sophomore Lilly Barre was second at 130 with a pin and a 5-2 decision. Junior Angelina Roling picked up a pin and was third at 115, while junior Abbie Grout did the same at 100. The Huskies will next wrestle at Pekin Thursday.
