Iawrestle.com has released their first high school poll of the year and southeast Iowa is well represented in the individual poll. In Class 2A, the Washington Demons have Aaron Boone at No. 6 in the 120lb weight class. The sophomore is 10-1 in contested matches this season and was runner-up last weekend at the Mount Vernon tournament.
In Class 1A, a pair of grapplers are ranked at 106. Sigourney-Keota’s Reanah Utterback finds herself in the top 12 of the boys poll at No. 6. The preseason girls national champion is 9-2 in contested matches with the boys this year, finishing runner-up at Mount Vernon last weekend. WACO’s Gage Samo is 10th at 106lbs.
At 120lbs, Highland’s Luke Guseman is eighth. The junior has a 12-3 overall record, winning the championship at last weekend’s North Cedar Invitational.
At 152lbs, Sigourney-Keota’s Reid Molyneux is 11th. The junior is 5-1 this year, finishing second at the Willard Howell Invitational and third at Mount Vernon last weekend.
At 160lbs, WACO’s Louden Huisenga is seventh. The Warrior sophomore is 9-1 on the year, finishing as champion at the Tri-County Tournament Saturday.
At 170lbs, Sigourney-Keota’s Jack Clarahan is the highest ranked area wrestler, starting the year at No. 3. The SK senior is 15-1 in contested matches with an undefeated day at the Willard Howell Invitational and a third place finish at Mount Vernon on the year.
