The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team is back on the court tonight in Wellman when they welcome the Pekin Panthers. The Hawks are 3-2 on the year and 2-2 in the River Valley after back-to-back setbacks against West Branch Friday on the road and Wilton in Wellman Tuesday. The No. 4 Beavers beat the Hawks by a 67-49 score despite 15 points for Dylan Henry and a 12 point 11 rebound double double for Alex Bean. This season, Mid-Prairie is averaging 62 points per game and giving up 55 while shooting 37% from the floor, 27% from three and 67% at the line with 38 rebounds, 13 assists, eight steals and 12 turnovers. Individual leaders include Bean at 14 points and eight rebounds per night. Camron Pickard leads the Hawks with five assists per night.
Pekin is 2-3 on the year and 2-2 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference after a 40-32 loss in Kalona to Hillcrest Academy Tuesday. The Panthers are shooting 43% from the floor this year, 26% from three, and 64% at the line with 16 boards, seven assists, six steals and six turnovers per night.
