The Highland Huskies split a pair of road wrestling duals last night. Highland defeated the Lone Tree Lions 46-0 but lost to the host Pekin Panthers 30-24. The night was largely a showcase for Highland’s Landon Bell. The sophomore won both of his bouts at 106 pounds with a pin and a 9-1 major decision. Freshman Brock Thomann picked up the Huskies’ only other head-to-head win with a pin at 126 lbs.
Lone Tree dropped its dual with Pekin 30-4. The only individual win on the night for the Lions came from freshman Carter Schott, who defeated Pekin’s Reed Lauderman by a 12-3 major decision at 106. While Lone Tree goes to Regina tomorrow, Highland is at Fort Madison this weekend.
