The Hillcrest Academy Ravens visit the WACO Warriors in a Southeast Iowa Superconference basketball doubleheader Friday. The Raven boys are 4-2 overall, 4-1 in the Superconference after a 40-32 win over Pekin in Kalona Tuesday where Luke Schrock led the way with 13 points and Seth Ours added 12. For the year, the Ravens score 60 per game and give up 47, shooting 49% from the floor, 36% from three and 52% at the line with 24 boards, 16 assists, 13 steals and 13 turnovers per game. Individual leaders Bender scoring 19 points with six rebounds per game and Schrock at four assists and three steals per night.

WACO is unbeaten at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Superconference after hammering Highland Tuesday 78-17 with Hunter Hughes scoring 19 and Cody Graber and Colton Leichty each finishing with 12. The Warriors are ranked No. 5 in Class 1A in the first poll of the year issued by the Iowa Associated Press. WACO is scoring 70 per game and giving up 33 on 47% shooting overall, 38% from three and 53% at the line with 43 boards, 19 assists, 17 steals and 14 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include Hughes at 17 points, five assists and five steals per night. Graber has a team best seven boards. Hillcrest has won 21 of the last 23 in the series, but the Warriors were 60-22 winners a year ago.

The Hillcrest girls come in looking for their first victory of the season at 0-8 overall and 0-4 in the Superconference after a 36-28 loss to Pekin Tuesday despite 14 points from Malia Yoder and 12 from Claire Withrow. This year the Ravens are scoring 23 per game and giving up 50 with a 25% shooting percentage, 26% from three and 53% at the line to go with 25 boards, four assists, seven steals and 26 turnovers per night. Individual leaders include Withrow at 10 points per game, Delaney Shaw at seven boards per night and Malia Yoder with three steals and two assists per game.

WACO is 5-2 overall, 4-1 in the Superconference after a Tuesday 49-20 win over Highland. This year the Warriors score 52 per night and give up 32 shooting 35% from the floor 15% from three and 64% at the line with 32 rebounds, 10 assists, 11 steals and 12 turnovers per game. Ellah Kissell leads the way at 22 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three assists per night. WACO has won 16 of the last 20 in the series including eight straight and a 58-38 win the last time these two met in 2018.
