The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams travel to Durant tonight for a River Valley doubleheader with the Wildcats. The Mid-Prairie boys are 4-2 on the year, 3-2 in the RVC, after a 63-49 overtime win in Wellman Thursday over the Pekin Panthers behind 23 points from Alex Bean, 15 from Camron Pickard and an 11 point, 14 rebound double double from Shawn Dodds. On the year, the Hawks score 62 per night and give up 44, shooting 36% from the floor, 26% from three and 71% at the line with 39 rebounds, 13 assists, 10 steals and 13 turnovers per game. Individually, Mid-Prairie is led by Bean at 16 points and seven boards per game. Pickard has a team best four assists per night and Brady Weber two steals per game.
Durant is 2-4 this season, 1-3 in the River Valley after a 68-46 win over Tipton Tuesday, led by Nolan DeLong’s 24 point 10 rebound double double. The Wildcats average 51 points per game while giving up 54 with a 38% mark from the floor, 26% from three and 66% at the line to go with 32 rebounds, 10 assists, six steals and 15 turnovers. DeLong is the leader at 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals per game. Garrett Hollenbeck is also averaging double figures at 13 points per game. Mid-Prairie has won six of the last eight in the series, including five straight with 74-46 and 81-55 wins a season ago.
The Golden Hawk girls are 4-4 overall, 2-2 in the River Valley after a 48-39 win over Wilton in Wellman Tuesday behind 12 points from Josie Greiner and 11 from Landry Pacha. This season, the Hawks are scoring 50 per game and giving up 46 while shooting 32% from the floor, 25% from three and 60% at the line to go with 38 rebounds, 10 assists, 13 steals and 16 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include Amara Jones with 11 points, five assists and five steals per night. Landry Pacha is the leader on the glass with seven boards and 10 points per game.
Durant is 1-5 on the year 0-4 in the River Valley after a 57-53 loss to Tipton Tuesday where Isabelle DeLong had 24 points. On the season, Durant scores 42 per game and gives up 58 at 30% from the floor, 29% from three and 55% at the line with 34 boards, eight assists, 11 steals and 18 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include DeLong at 20 points and eight boards per game. Avery Paper averages three steals and two assists per game. Mid-Prairie has won 11 of the last 13 in the series including five straight with 52-48 and 57-37 victories a season ago. Action starts with the girls game tonight at 6p.m. at Durant High School.
