The Washington School Board met Wednesday and discussed the High School and Middle School Improvement Project. They received bids for Phase 1 of the project on December 7th. With the bids that they received, they came in $67,000 under the budget estimated for the project. This will enable them to use the saved funds for Phase 2 of the project. The board voted unanimously to approve the project. “Been moved and seconded, we move forward with our phase one project, our high school and middle school improvement project. Any discussion? All those in favor signify by saying “I, opposed?” The project will install a 19,000-square-foot wing onto the high school building with classrooms to hold grades six through eight. A 21,000-square-foot, two-story extension of the high school will also be built. Additionally, it will extend 9,550 square feet of gymnasium space and renovate another 52,500 square feet of the existing high school building. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2023.
