A number of area wrestlers descended on the Regina Invitational, and part of the story of the weekend was another strong performance for the Sigourney-Keota Cobras. SK had eight medalists on their way to finishing third in the team standings.

Leading the way for the Cobras were senior Jack Clarahan and sophomores Brady Clark and Reanah Utterback, who each won tournament championships in their weight class. Clarahan was the champ at 170 pounds after winning with a pair of pins and a 19-5 major decision. while Clark brought the title at 126 lbs with two pins and a 10-2 major decision. Utterback grabbed the crown at 106 lbs with a pin and a slim 2-0 decision.

Senior Austin Gorsh finished second at 120, while junior Reid Molyneux was also a runner-up at 152. Senior Dan Mclaughlin took third at 132, while junior Jake Moore was fourth at 160 and sophomore Jayden Thompson and junior Hunter Sieren were sixth at 195 and 182, respectively.

The WACO Warriors finished tied for sixth as a team with the host Regina. The top performance among the Warriors’ five medalists came from sophomore Louden Huisenga, who won the title at 160 lbs. Sophomore Gage Samo was runner-up to Utterback at 106, while senior Junior Quiroz ended up sixth at 138 and junior John Mclaughlin and senior Drew Diers were fourth at 126 and 220, respectively.
