The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Durant Friday for a River Valley Conference doubleheader and walked out of the gym with a River Valley sweep. The girls set the tone for the night as they rolled to a 66-22 victory. Mid-Prairie led 10-8 after one but went on a 29-4 run that lasted the entire second frame to build a 39-12 halftime lead. The Hawks would enact the running clock in the third quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 20-7 out of the locker room to go up 59-19. Mid-Prairie shot 52% as a team with 35 boards, 15 of them on the offensive glass, 16 assists and 16 steals. Three players got to double figures led by 12 each from seniors Maya Nonnenmann and Amara Jones. Jovi Evans had a big night off the bench with 11 points. The win was the third in a row for the Hawks and boosted them to 5-4 overall.
The Golden Hawk boys poured it on after half with and finished with a 67-50 win in the nightcap. The game was tied at nine after the first eight minutes and Mid-Prairie led 30-28 at intermission. The Hawks outscored the Wildcats 37-22 after break to pull away. Mid-Prairie shot 41% for the night and forced 22 Durant turnovers. The Golden Hawk offense was keyed by a trio in double figures, led by 19 from Camron Pickard on seven of 12 shooting. Alex Bean finished with 18 points and Dylan Henry added 15. The win moved Mid-Prairie to 5-2 on the year.
