The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys wrestling team wrapped up the first half of the year Saturday at the Saber Invitational in DeWitt. The Hawks were eighth of 15 teams with 66 points. Creston won the team title with 258 points. Mose Yoder won gold for the Golden Hawks, winning the 113lb bracket with fall in the title match over Brayden Curtis of Cedar Rapids Jefferson in 2:56. He spoke about the championship bout this week with KCII Sports. “I gotta move my feet a little more, that’s something I’m still working on. I tried to stay on my offense and keep my defense up. Every time he would shoot in, he would dive in. I was able to catch his arms and turn him. I sunk my half in, made small adjustments from there and got the pin. I got it done.”
Other top finishes included Kaden Meader third at 170lbs, Owen Trimpe fifth at 160 with Landry Gingerich at 138, and Quinn Callahan at 220lbs also competing. Mid-Prairie is off through the holidays and returns to action January 5th at their home River Valley Conference dual meet.
