In November, the Iowa Workforce Development released the unemployment numbers for all Iowa Counties. Washington, Henry, Iowa, Jefferson, Johnson, Keokuk, and Louisa Counties all saw a decrease in their rate of unemployment over the last year.

Washington County’s unemployment rate for the past year was 2.4 percent, compared to 2.6 percent last year. Henry County experienced the same drop, with a 2.9 percent unemployment rate for 2022. The highest decrease from the area came from Jefferson and Keokuk Counties, both dropping .6 percent. Jefferson County’s 2022 unemployment rate was 2.5 percent, with Keokuk County at 2.8.

Other area counties include Iowa, Johnson, and Louisa, which all saw a .4 percent decrease in the last year. Unemployment rates for Iowa County were 2.3 percent, 2.4 percent for Johnson County, and 3 percent for Louisa County.
