
Local homes and yards weren’t the only things lit up for the holidays this year. The Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams gave local scoreboards a workout with their strong offensive showings during the first half of the season.
The Mid-Prairie girls stand at No. 6 in Class 3A going into winter break with 509 points scored, an average of nearly 51 per game. Senior guard Amara Jones leads Mid-Prairie averaging 11 points per game, senior forward Landry Pacha is second at 10 points per game with senior Kylie Reinier and junior Nora Pennington at six and seniors Josie Greiner and Maddie Nonnenmann all scoring five per night. The Golden Hawk girls are also ninth in 3A with 90 made free throws. Their 156 total attempts are 10th most. Pacha has made 23 free throws to lead the team, followed by Jones at 21, Pennington with 12 and Reinier 11. As a team, Mid-Prairie shoots 57.7% at the line. The Golden Hawk girls are 5-5 on the season.
The Mid-Prairie boys have scored 505 points this season, 10th most in Class 2A, an average of 63 per night. Senior Alex Bean is the team lead at 16 points per night, followed by senior Camron Pickard at 15, junior Dylan Henry with nine and senior Collin Miller with five. Junior Beau Flynn is ninth in Class 2A shooting 68.4% from the floor. The Golden Hawk boys lead all of Class 2A with 96 made free throws on the season. Their 134 attempts are ninth most and their 71.6% mark at the line is fourth in 2A. Brady Weber is one of just 12 players in the entire state regardless of class who is still perfect at the line. Bean is fourth in 2A with 38 made free throws, his 46 attempts are sixth most. The Golden Hawk boys are 5-3 on the season.
