On Sunday, January 15, Louisa County Conservation is holding their Happy, Healthy Home Family Day. The free program is open to all ages, and will take place from 3-5 p.m. in the Langwood Education Center at 14019 H Avenue in Wapello.

Participants will discover ways to recycle everyday items and convert them into garden treasures, along with trying recipes that reduce the amount of plastic waste in the home. They can also learn how to make their own bath salts, laundry detergent, and other garden crafts.

Those attending are invited to bring their favorite cookie recipe with samples, as a homemade chocolate sauce demonstration and hot cocoa will be available. Prizes will be given for the most delicious and most creative cookie. In addition to all of the family activities, the trails at Langwood will be open for hiking. Children ages sixteen and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Pre-registration is required by Friday, January 13. To register for the Happy, Healthy Home Family Day, contact Laura Semken at 319-523-8381 or email conservation@louisacountyia.gov.
