The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls wrestling record book is undergoing a serious edit this season based on hard work on the mat. Riding into winter break, six records have already been smashed during this year. The all-time wins record of 38, set by Bronwyn Brenneman in 2022 has been passed by senior Mia Garvey with 47, junior Gabi Robertson with 40 and tied by her sister junior Ellie Brenneman with 38. Garvey also set the career pins record earlier this season. She has accumulated 40 falls, breaking the previous mark of 29, set by Sarah Meader, Class of 2021.
Bronwyn Brenneman’s school record of 49 career takedowns has been takendown, by Robertson with 66 and matched by Garvey’s 49. Bronwyn Brenneman also had a school record seven career two point near falls which has been bested by Robertson’s 12 and Bronwyn Brenneman’s 12 career three point near falls school record has also been beaten by Robertson and sophomore Ashlee Farrier with 13 apiece.
The school record of seven reversals in a season, set by Bronwyn Brenneman and Meader respectively in 2022 and 2021 has been eclipsed by senior Marissa Cline with eight and matched by Ellie Brenneman’s seven.
The Golden Hawks next chance to make history comes when they open the second half of the year Friday at Highland.
