On December 27, the Washington County Riverboat Foundation announced their 2022 4th quarter city grants through its Municipal Grant program. Kalona, Wellman, and West Chester were three of the eight cities in southeast Iowa benefiting from the program.

Kalona was awarded $51,811.72, Wellman will receive $30,396.21, and West Chester was granted $2,486.96. Since 2006, WCRF has given over $2.4 million to Kalona, more than $1.4 million to Wellman, just over $152,000 to West Chester. Funds are programmed by each City Council.

WCRF is the nonprofit license holder for the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort, which provides all of its funding. Through their Municipal Grant program, they distribute 25% of their total revenues directly to the cities in Washington County based on population. Since 2006, WCRF has granted $14,107,150.92 in Total Municipal Grants.
