The Keota Eagles boys’ basketball team survived a tight road matchup at Montezuma Tuesday night with a 67-62 victory. Keota was up by two at the end of the first quarter, but Montezuma shot the ball well all night and never gave the Eagles room to breathe. Keota led 36-32 at halftime but would see the Braves tie the game up at 54 going into the final period.

The difference for the Eagles was a huge scoring night from their starters, all five of which ended up in double figures. Junior Evan Vittetoe led the way with 16 points and also grabbed seven rebounds and three steals. Junior Cole Kindred added 15 points and eight boards while knocking down three three-pointers. Sophomore Billie Kindred covered the whole floor with 14 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots, while senior Aidan Anderson and junior Sawyer Stout put up 10 points each to help Keota improve their record to 9-2.

The Eagle girls also faced Montezuma Tuesday but lost 68-17. Trailing 23-10 after a quarter of play, the Eagles would struggle even more on offense the rest of the night, including going scoreless in the third quarter and put up one total point in the second half. Keota falls to 3-8. Both Eagle teams will next play tomorrow night versus HLV.
