The Columbus Wildcats dropped both halves of a basketball doubleheader at Van Buren County last night. The Columbus girls had the game tied at nine in the opening quarter and only trailed by four at halftime of the first game. But being outscored 26-8 in the second half did the Wildcats in en route to a 45-23 defeat. Sophomore Frannie Sosa led Columbus in scoring with seven points as the Wildcats drop to 5-7.

The Columbus boys were down 17-7 after a quarter of play, and the VBC lead only swelled to 24 at halftime as part of a 73-38 victory. Wildcat sophomore Ryan Coil knocked down a trio of three-pointers and finished tied with senior teammate Grant Watson for the team high of nine points. Watson also came up with seven rebounds and three assists. Columbus drops to 2-9 ahead of visiting Hillcrest Academy tonight.
