Addington Place is a senior living community in Mt. Pleasant. With a focus on providing hospitality to their residents, the center is also serving their community through the “Treats For Troops” Supply Drive and their Lunch For A Cause this month.
In a partnership with Soldiers’ Angels, Addington Place is collecting donations for the “Treats For Troops” Supply Drive throughout the month of January. Community Relations Coordinator for the center, Cody Flietner, explains, “It’s essentials that these troops need. It can be anything from snacks all the way through toiletries and entertainment. A lot of times they need just nice dry socks and towels,” he said. “It’s just a great way to get the community involved, and this community is very much supportive of our troops.”
Participants can bring items or monetary donations to Addington Place any day of the week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. From there, they work with the local National Guard to package items and send them to troops overseas. This is the fourth consecutive year that Addington Place has participated in the Supply Drive.
This month’s Lunch For A Cause, named “Winter Blues BBQ Drive Thru” will be held on Thursday, January 26. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. they will be serving pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, a bag of chips and a fresh-baked cookie via carry-out order. The meal is $7 per order, with proceeds benefiting the Mt. Pleasant Music Boosters. Flietner hopes to continue the success of the event, which raised over $1400 last year.
