The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys wrestling team honored their seniors Thursday at the team’s final home event of the season, a River Valley Conference quad meet with Cascade, Maquoketa and Anamosa.

The Hawks started the night dismantling the Cougars 57-18. The Hawks got wins in contested matches from Colin O’Rourke at 126lbs by fall, Tucker Miller at 132 by fall, Peyton Fox at 138 by 7-1 decision, Josh Turner at 145 by fall, Kaden Meader at 170 by fall and Burke Berry at 285lbs by fall.

In the night’s second contest, Mid-Prairie topped Maquoketa 48-34. Mid-Prairie got wins in contested matches against the Cardinals from Jesse Stultz at 106lbs by fall, Max Howe at 120 by fall, Tucker Miller at 132 by fall, and Terry Bordenave at 195lbs by fall.

The night closed with the Hawks only loss, a 42-39 setback against Anamosa. Mid-Prairie got wins in contested matches with the Blue Raiders from Mose Yoder at 113lbs by 13-12 decision, Max Howe at 120 by fall, Kaden Meader at 170 by fall, Terry Bordenave at 195 by fall, Quinn Callahan at 220 by fall and Burke Berry at 285 by fall. After the meet, Bordenave, who went 2-0 on the night with a pair of falls spoke with KCII sports about the matches and being on the mat on senior night. “I seek the blast double, I really like blast doubles and that’s what I looked for tonight in the first and second match. Everybody is looking for a win, so I had to go get mine. I got the pins. It felt fantastic.”

With the 2-1 night, the Hawks close the dual portion of their schedule with an 11-7 record. Mid-prairie honored their six seniors Mose Yoder, Evan Phillips, Owen Trimpe, Kaden Meader, Jaxen Timmerman, and Terry Bordenave before the meet. The Golden Hawks are next in action Saturday when they travel to the WACO Tournament.
