The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls hoops teams travel to Tipton Friday for a River Valley Conference doubleheader with the Tigers. The Golden Hawk girls are 6-5 on the year and 3-2 in the RVC after a 52-45 win at rival Williamsburg on Monday where Landry Pacha led the Hawks with a double double, 11 points and 10 boards, and Nora Pennington posted a team high 12 points. On the year, Mid-Prairie is scoring 51 points per game and giving up 44, shooting 35% from the floor, 25% from three and 59% at the line with 37 rebounds, 11 assists, 13 steals and 15 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include Amara Jones with 11 points, five assists and four steals per night. Pacha averages a team best seven boards per game.

Tipton is 5-8 this year, 2-6 in the River Valley. The Tigers stepped outside of conference play to take down Calamus-Wheatland Monday 44-39 behind Kyra Shaull’s 18 points. This year, the Tigers score 44 per game and give up 48, shooting 42% from the floor, 31% from three and 53% at the line with 31 rebounds, 11 assists, 10 steals and 25 turnovers per night. Top individual Tigers include Shaull at 13 points and seven boards per game. Carly Langenberg has a team best three assists and three steals per night. Mid-Prairie has won nine of the last 10 in the series, including five straight, with three wins last year by 57-20, 48-43, and 52-25 scores.

The Mid-Prairie boys are 7-4 on the season, 3-2 in conference, after a 58-52 win at Xtream Arena in Coralville Tuesday over Iowa City Regina, where Alex Bean scored a team high 21 points and Ace Peck added 11. On the year, the Hawks score 62 points per game and give up 57, shooting 38% from the floor, 30% from three and 72% at the line with 33 rebounds, 13 assists, 10 steals and 12 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include Cameron Pickard at 16 points and four assists per game along with Bean at five boards and two steals per night.

Tipton is 4-9 this season and winless in league play through five games. The Tigers beat Calamus-Wheatland on Monday 59-46 with Preston Daedlow scoring 17 points. On the season the Tigers average 52 points per game and give up 64, shooting 41% from the floor, 32% from three and 56% at the line with 27 rebounds, nine assists, nine steals and 21 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include Daedlow at 13 points per night. Davis Webb has a team best six boards and two blocks per game with Ty Nichols averaging two assists and two takeaways per game. Mid-Prairie has won 18 of the last 29 in the series including four straight with 71-36 and 60-35 victories a season ago.
