Sigourney-Keota wrestling wrapped up another productive week by taking eighth as a team at the Hudson Invitational on Saturday. SK had six medalists, led by Jack Clarahan. The senior was the runner-up in the 170-pound weight class, winning his first two bouts via a pin and a 7-2 decision before getting pinned in the final for just his third loss of the season. Junior Jake Moore finished sixth at 160 lbs, while senior DJ Hammes was fifth at 145. Sigourney-Keota also had a trio of fourth-place finishers in senior Dan Mclaughlin and sophomores Brady Clark and Reanah Utterback.
SK went to Hudson on the heels of winning a pair of duals Thursday night, defeating BGM 57-15 and beating Lynnville-Sully 57-24. Three wrestlers won multiple bouts on the night, including Mclaughlin picking up a pin and 7-1 decision at 132. Senior Austin Gorsh pinned both his opponents at 120, while sophomore Jayden Thompson also both his bouts via a pin and a 4-3 decision at 220.
The Highland Husky girls also took to the mat this weekend in Oelwein. The top performance belonged to junior Angelina Roling, who claimed the tournament title at 115 lbs by bouncing back from a first-bout defeat to reel off four straight pins. Sophomore Lilly Barre and junior Abbie Grout were fifth at 125 and 100, respectively, while senior Mackenzie McFarland was eighth at 110.
