Mid-Prairie 113lber Mose Yoder added his name to the list of greats in school history recently, winning his 100th career match. For the Golden Hawk senior, number 100 came in the semifinals of the Gary Curtis Invitational at Highland January 7th when he pinned Austin Etzel of Wilton in 1:35. He talked with KCII Sports after Mid-Prairie’s Senior Night about his 100th win, how he did it and how it felt. “Going into the match I knew the kid was good, but I was on a different level of focus that day. The atmosphere was good, my mindset was good and everything just came together. At the edge of the mat I had him in a Butcher and he rolled into kind of a funky position, I ended up with double underhooks from the top side and ended up sticking him to the mat there. Before the match I knew it could be my 100th, but when I got into the match I was so far into tunnel vision after the whole match that my Dad had to turn around me around and point to the crowd. It was an amazing feeling.”
Yoder’s first career win came December 3rd of 2019 when he put Blake Hughes of Eddyville-Blakesburg on his back. He reached the halfway point in his climb to 100 with his 50th career victory at the 2021 edition of the Gary Curtis Invitational when he beat Brody Chyma of South Tama by fall in 1:52. He compiled a 30-22 record as a freshman, 26-13 mark as a sophomore, where he was a district qualifier, went 30-12 as a junior, and so far this season is 21-6. Yoder is the 15th member of the Century Club at Mid-Prairie where he joins Levi Duwa, Cory Allen, Josh Wallington, Cameron Tolander, Gannon Callahan, Josh Murphy, Isaac Boucher, Adam Greiner, Visouth Peterschmidt, Heath Ropp, Micah Casper, Phirom Peterschmidt and Duncan McCain. The Golden Hawks are next in action Thursday when they take on Durant, West Liberty and Wilton in a River Valley Conference quadrangular.
