The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams host the Mount Pleasant Panthers at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman Monday night for a non-conference doubleheader. The Mid-Prairie girls come into the night at 10-5 on the year, winners of five-in-a-row after a 49-34 win at Cornell College over Bellevue Saturday. On the season, the Hawks are scoring 52 points per game and giving up 43, shooting 37% from the floor, 27% from three and 60% at the line with 37 rebounds, 12 assists, 13 steals and 17 turnovers per game. Individually, Landry Pacha leads Mid-Prairie at 10 points and eight boards per game. Amara jones has a team best five assists and five steals per night.
Mount Pleasant is 9-7 this year after beating Washington Friday 44-35. On the season, the Panthers score 44 points per game and give up 36, shooting 34% from the floor, 23% from three and 62% at the line with 32 rebounds, eight assists, 10 steals and 15 turnovers per game. Andrea Lopreato does it all for the Panthers, averaging a team best 19 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and three steals per night. These schools haven’t met since 2011 when the Panthers took a 61-56 win.
The Mid-Prairie boys are 9-5 after a Friday win at West Liberty 65-44 behind 14 points from Camron Pickard and 13 from Dylan Henry. On the year, the Hawks average 61 points per game and give up 56, shooting 37% from the floor, 29% from three and 72% at the line with 33 rebounds, 12 assists, nine steals and 12 turnovers per game. Individually, Camron Pickard leads the way at 15 points and four assists per night with Alex Bean averaging a team best five boards and two steals per game.
Mount Pleasant is 11-3 after a 58-51 win over Washington Friday where Payton Hagans exploded for 30 points in a win. For the year, the Panthers are averaging 58 points per game and giving up 44, shooting 43% from the floor, 34% from long range and 66% at the line with 33 boards, 11 assists, seven steals and 10 turnovers per game. Hagans is the individual leader with 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals per night. These teams have not met since 2012, but Mount Pleasant has won the last three in the series.
