The Washington Demons stayed busy but were also successful on the wrestling mat this weekend. The Washington boys finished 12th out of 28 teams at the John J Harris Invitational Saturday at Southwest Valley High School in Corning thanks to four medalists. Sophomore Aaron Boone suffered just his second loss of the season at 120 pounds, reaching the title bout but dropping an 8-7 decision to finish runner-up. Sophomore Jude Carter was also second at 138 lbs, reaching the final but losing on a technical knockout. The Demons also got fourth-place finishes from freshman Caden Greiner at 126 and junior Chase Greiner at 152.

The Washington girls’ wrestling team finished 11th in the teams standings at the Lousia-Muscatine Invitational on Saturday. The highlight was senior Teegan Sulentich taking home another tournament title at 155 lbs, pinning both of her opponents. Junior Jillian Langstraat was fifth at 110, while classmate Jenna Bose was seventh at 145 and sophomore Peggy Miller ended up eighth at 140.
