The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk Large Group Speech Team competed at the District Contest in Keota on Saturday. Of the nine groups performing, eight received a Division 1 rating, and will now advance to the Iowa High School Speech Association’s State Large Group Contest in Cedar Rapids.
The Reader’s Theatre group earning a state appearance includes Christopher Burnham, Harlie Gehling, Isadora Goode, Logan McClellan, Jeremiah Rempel, and Caroline Schrader.
Three Ensemble Acting groups advanced to state as well. Making up the three groups are Isabelle Duvall, Harlie Gehling, Isadora Goode, Abrielle Kraus, Daniel Rodgers, Diego Sanchez, Haydon Bailey, Jacob Carrillo, Caroline Schrader, Avery Slaubaugh, Kenadi Fay, River Gehling, and Grace Puttmann.
Both Musical Theatre groups earned a Division 1 rating and will head to state. Groups include Haydon Bailey, Jack Greiner, Avery Slaubaugh, Logan McClellen and Jeremiah Rempel. Additional Division 1 ratings were awarded to Jillian Clark, Kenadi Fay, Christopher Burnham, Jacob Carrillo, and Jack Greiner for Group Improvisation. Earning a Division 2 rating for Group Improvisation were River Gehling, Grace Puttman, and Lincoln Wulf.
The IHSSA State Large Group Contest will be held on Saturday, February 4 at Cedar Rapids Washington High School.
