On Saturday, January 21, the Lone Tree Large Group Speech Team competed in the district contest in Monticello. Of the six groups competing, five received a Division 1 rating. Even more impressive is the fact that all 24 students who competed in the event have qualified for the state competition in Cedar Rapids. 

The state-bound Choral Reading group includes Tyce Alt, Oliver Altenhofen, Ella Buser, Alex Dautremont, Maddi Floyd, Lukas Fuhrmeister, Drew Gauley, Andrew Hotz, Katie McCarty, Cate Sexton, Emma Slaughter, Braden Viers, Lindsay Werbach, Cade Willoz, and Ethan Willoz. 

Performing in the Reader’s Theater competition were Alex Dautremont, Isabelle Eagle, Maddi Floyd, Jadin Grieser, Alyssa Hartman, Andrew Hotz, Mitchell Koedam, Katie McCarty, Jazmine Niño, Shyan Rockafellow, William Rockafellow, Cate Sexton, Emma Slaughter, Lindsay Werbach, and Hayden Yoder. 

Three Group Improvisations competed, with two advancing to state. Group improv performers were Tyce Alt, Oliver Altenhofen, Sami Branson, Isabelle Eagle, Lukas Fuhrmeister, Drew Gauley, Jadin Grieser, Mitchell Koedam, Jazmine Niño, Shyan Rockafellow, William Rockafellow, Braden Viers, Cade Willoz, Ethan Willoz, and Hayden Yoder. 

Sami Branson also received a Division 1 rating, performing in Solo Mime. 

The IHSSA State Large Group Contest will be held on Saturday, February 4 at Cedar Rapids Washington High School.
