Two more arrests have been made in connection with a Tiffin shooting that occurred on October 24, 2022.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office announced that a 17-year-old juvenile male, as well as 20-year-old ZaShawn Smith were arrested on January 23 and 26, respectively. Smith was charged with attempted murder, a class B felony, and riot, a class D felony. The juvenile was charged with riot, a class D felony.
Eight other individuals had been arrested and charged on January 19 and 20 following an investigation of the shooting, which occurred in the area of Highway 6 and Park Road in Tiffin. The group of suspects had reportedly planned an assault at a Coralville residence. When the individuals at the residence left, they were followed to the roundabout, where several shots were fired into the victim’s vehicle. None of the vehicle occupants were hit by gunfire.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Coralville Police Department, Johnson County Drug Task, Joint Forensic Analysis Cyber Team, North Liberty Police Department, and Johnson County Attorney’s Office.
