At the Washington Board of Supervisors Meeting Tuesday, Washington Police Chief Jim Lester gave the annual report for the Washington County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council. Part of the report was discussion about what the county QRS team’s top goals for the Advisory council were. They included funding, passing EMS as an essential service, and ensuring the stability of the EMS system and all of the ambulance groups working together. Chief Lester explains the biggest challenge for the QRS units: “So basically, staffing retention and recruitment is probably the biggest obstacle that our QRS units are facing.” Chief Lester finished his report by asking the Board of Supervisors to provide leadership and support and to keep building the partnership with the various QRS agencies and the County EMS Association.
