The Jefferson County Conservation Tap the Sap Program, originally planned for Monday, has been rescheduled. The event will now take place on Friday, February 10, beginning at 4 p.m.

Participants of all ages are invited to attend and learn about the maple syruping process from start to finish. Those who attend will have the opportunity to help tap maple trees and gather sap. Warm clothing is recommended as a short hike is involved.

The event is a favorite for Brittney Tiller, a Naturalist for Jefferson County Conservation, who encourages anyone interested in the process to join. “I’m always excited for maple syrup season to start because that means the end of winter is nearing and spring is on its way,” she said.

Tap the Sap is a free event. Guests are asked to meet at the Camp Kyle Amphitheater behind the Jefferson County Park Nature Center. For more information, contact Brittney Tiller at naturalist@jeffersoncountyconservation.com or call 641-472-4421.
