The Keota Eagles rallied from an early deficit to claim a 70-58 boys’ basketball victory over Cardinal Friday night. Despite trailing 19-11 at the end of the first quarter, Keota flipped the game on its head and were up by five at halftime, ultimately outscoring Cardinal 59-39 from the first period on.

Eagle junior guard Sawyer Stout poured in a game-high 25 points, while junior forward Evan Vittetoe nearly put up a double-double with 16 points, nine rebounds, two blocked shots and three steals. Sophomore forward Bille Kindred added 15 points, eight boards and four steals, while junior point guard Cole Kindred compiled 12 points, four boards, seven dimes and four steals to give Keota its eighth straight win and help the Eagles improve to 18-3.

The Keota girls were defeated by Cardinal 53-46 Friday night. The Eagles cut an early four-point deficit in half by the half and stayed there late into the game, but the Cardinal Comets outscored them 16-11 in the final quarter to put them away. Keota falls to 7-14 as the regular season draws to a close. While the Eagle boys play tonight against Highland, the girls wait until Thursday night to open the Class 1A-Region 8 tournament against WACO.
