Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Naig, encourages eligible Iowa farm owners to apply for the 2023 Century and Heritage Farm Program. Those who qualify have from now through June 1 to apply.

The program was created by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation to recognize families who have owned their farms for 100 years, and 150 years.

Since 1976, 27 area farms have received one of two distinctions, including five in Washington County, seven in Keokuk County, five in Johnson County, four in Henry County, three in Jefferson County, two in Iowa County, and one in Louisa County. More than 20,000 farms across the state have been recognized.

Applications must be filled out and returned to the Wallace State Office Building at 502 E. Ninth Street in Des Moines. To download the application, click here.
